a. Hold Ctrl + Shift and click on each of the tentacle layers to load their selections.

b. Click on the Channels Tab in the Layers Palette to get to the Channels Palette. Hit the Save Selection as Channel button.

a. Make sure you still have the selection active and go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur... use these settings:
Radius: 4.6 pixels
b. After you hit ok hit Ctrl + F twice more to repeat the filter.
c. If you want to get advanced you can do this to each of the tentacles one at a time, so you get this layered effect.

a. Click on the button in the top right corner of the palette. Choose Duplicate Channel... from the menu.
|

b. Use these settings. After you hit ok a new file will open it should look like this:
c. Save the file using these settings:

-make sure to remember where you save it to.

a. Now go back to the Layers Palette and make a copy of the Text layer we merged earlier. Move this copy to the top of the layers palette.
b. Now, with the newly copied layer selected, go to Filter>Distort>Glass...
use these settings:
Distortion: 17
Smoothness: 15
Hit the button next to Texture and navigate to the map.psd we saved earlier.
Then hit ok.

a. Hold Ctrl + Shift and click on all 3 tentacle layers to load their selection. Then hit the Add Layer Mask button at the bottom of the layers palette.

b. Next change the blend mode of the distorted layer to Overlay.
