-Next go to Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast

-Filter>Noise>Add Noise...

-Add just a tiny bit of noise. You shouldn't be able to really see the noise. You should be able to tell a difference from before and after though. This is a sensitive step so experiment.

 

-This is the final orange/brown rust.

-Next I will show you how to get 2 types of metal for 1.

-Make a copy of your rust layer. You can do this by going to Layer>Duplicate Layer... or just drag the layer you want copied into the button in the bottom right of the layers pallet. (It says "Create A New Layer" when you hold the mouse over it.)

-Next take all the color out of the image. Do this by going to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation or Ctrl + U. Use these settings:

Saturation: -100

-Finally tweak the Brightness/Contrast like such

Brightness: 0

Contrast: 25
